About
Hello, I am Olivier Clerc. I currently work on topics at the intersection of artificial intelligence and education as a Starting Researcher in the Flowers AI & Cognitive Science Lab at Inria Bordeaux (France).
Current Work
My current work explores how generative AI can support learning, within a collaborative project involving Inria, EvidenceB, and other partners.
Recently, I investigated how middle school students use generative AI in school, and summarized the findings in this short video.
I am also currently developing a web application that uses large language models to automatically annotate and generate textual data.
Previous Research
My background is in cognitive science, and my curiosity has led me to explore a wide range of topics, including:
- the interaction between language and face perception during infancy
- communication in bonobos
- emotional responses in cockatiels
- the possibility of inferring internal mental states from subtle facial muscle activity
Alongside my academic work, I have also worked in industry at Cytoo, where I developed machine learning models for cellular microscopy image segmentation, contributing to tools used in biomedical research and drug development.
